Before you get new equipment, you must ask yourself the important question of, “Do I really need it?”. That question, along with the occasional, “Will it help bring in more money?” question will help you decide when to purchase new gear. If there is a lenses that will help you take different, more unique angles, and you’re a creative person who sells photographs that are expected to be ‘different’, that might be a good purchase for you. But if you’re into architectural buildings and all your ever sold are photos of full length buildings, a nice 300mm lenses probably isn’t for you; but if you’re into nature photography and shallow dof, than a 300mm is probably a great choice. It all depends on what you’re going to be doing with it.
Before getting a Nikon D7000, nice tripod
and fluid head
; I know that I first must take on the photography role as a semi-full-time basis. If I’m gonna lay out $1200 for a new camera, I better have a good reason to; otherwise my wife would be very upset with me as it gathered dust in the closet
… That being said, I’ve been trying to use my current Nikon D70a lot more. My eye is constantly looking for things to photograph and I’m looking at tutorials and things online to get my creativeness flowing. Here’s a photo from last night that I think came out pretty well…
