The Digital Photography School had a good article today regarding ‘finding time for photography‘. I’d like to just emphasize a few things in the article as well as give my own personal opinion…
The author, Peter Carey, does a good job at pretty much blaming the lack of time on only one thing, YOU! That’s right. You are in control of how you spend your time and what you do with it. You have a choice to go to a fancy dinner that takes an hour or longer, or you can go somewhere else downtown, spend 30 minutes eating and the rest of the time doing street photography near the restaurant. That leads into another great point that he makes… Bring your camera with you! You never really know what you’ll see something interesting to shoot. Just because we have camera-phones doesn’t mean we can’t walk around with our actual cameras – That is, unless YOU make the decision not to!
If you want to be a photographer or are just a hobbyist, the main takeaway question is: Are you shooting as often as you’d like to? If not, what do you plan on cutting down on so you can make the time? Less TV perhaps, less internet, less blog reading
